Summer is here! The sweet smell of lawn clippings, and the smoky tang of a neighbor grilling is in the air. This may be a biased statement, but Coloradans have lucked out when it comes to the summer season because the weather is perfect! It is time to get out there with you Community and explore all that is offered during the summer months in Colorado.

1. URBAN MARKET

The Urban Market is a great free event to support local artisans and businesses. The market includes clothing, jewelry, antiques, furniture, and amazing food. The best part is you get to enjoy the gorgeous weather while shopping. This market has also been voted Denver’s best outdoor marketplace since 2005. Lastly, there is a live concert that starts at noon each market day.

2. CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN ZOO

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Colorado Springs

M-F, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 365 Days a Year
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo was recently voted as the 6th best zoo in the nation! Though it’s open 365 days a year, the summer months are prime time to plan a Community trip to the zoo. Kids and parents alike can enjoy giraffe feedings, the Mountaineer Sky Ride, and many more activities!

3. SUMMER SYMPHONY AT WOODLAND PARK

Imagine listening to a live symphony in some cool mountain air. Well, imagine no more! The Summer Symphony, also known as the Symphony Above the Clouds, is an intimate free concert performed by the Philharmonic and organized by the Ute Pass Symphony.

4. CHERRY CREEK ARTS FESTIVAL

North Cherry Creek, Denver

July 1-3, 2017
The Cherry Creek Arts Festival is a 3-day festival full of visual, culinary, and performing arts. The festival is a Colorado must-do in the summer and has been an annual event for 26 years. With over 350,000 attendees, it is also a must for people watching connoisseurs.

5. FILM ON THE ROCKS

Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, Morrison

Hands down, one of the coolest things to do in the Metro area! This is a must-add to your Denver bucket-list. If you have ever experienced a concert at Red Rocks then you know how amazing the venue is; there is nothing like it in the world! So imagine watching one of your favorite classic movies on the rocks! Experience a mountain breeze at your back, the magnificent view, the uncanny outdoor acoustics, and a cold drink in hand. Plus, each movie is preceded by a local comedian and a live concert.

6. COMMUNITY MOVIE IN THE PARK

So you want to experience an outdoor movie, but you don’t feel like driving a distance to get to Red Rocks. Well worry no more, we can bring the movie to you! 7. VISIT STATE PARKS

Colorado is a place that people visit from all over the world just to experience the mountains, the weather, and its beauty. If you live here, then you may be considered one of the luckiest people in the world to have this state as your backyard. This summer, get out and enjoy some of the state parks that preserve the wildlife and natural landscape of this state. Whether it be a brisk walk, nature photography, a hike or a long weekend of camping, leave the cityscape and take it all in.
COMMUNITY TIP:
Organize a Community hike! Gather up Community members on a Saturday and have everyone meet at a designated location. Nothing like going on an adventurous hike to bring neighbors closer together.

INSIDER TIP:
Colorado Parks and Wildlife has partnered up with local libraries around the Metro area where you can check out state park passes for free! The pass comes with a backpack that is full of useful goodies, including: binoculars, maps, and wildlife guides.

8. DINO’S LIVE! EXHIBIT

Denver Zoo, Denver

July 1-October 31, 2017
The Dino’s Live exhibit is great for all ages! Dinosaurs will be taking over the Denver Zoo, and will be a very interesting way to see how dinosaurs measure up to the zoo’s resident animals. The exhibit feature life-size dinosaurs, some of them animatronic.
FUN TIPS:
Every Saturday in July will offer a Dinos! Prehistoric Party at night from 630-9 PM. There will be family-friendly entertainment to enjoy as well.
Food Truck Safari will go on July 14th and August 11th at 6:30 PM where some of the city’s top food trucks will set up at the zoo. Guests can enjoy live music and the Dinos! Alive exhibit, Tickets include one complementary beer courtesy of Great Divide Brewing Company. Food Truck Safari is an adult only event so call up those baby-sitters!

9. COMMUNITY ELITCH GARDENS TRIP

Elitch Gardens is a Denver staple for a reason: it’s a ton of fun! With more than a dozen rollercoasters and thrill rides, a water park, and shows, arcade games and much more to choose from, it’s the perfect way to kill summer boredom and indulge your inner adrenaline junkie!
