Hammersmith Management was proud to participate in the 9th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. In great philanthropic spirit, a group of Hammersmith Management team members dedicated their Sunday morning to completing the annual 5k walk. HMI team members who were unable to attend the event participated by making donations. As an initiative of Hammersmith’s CommUNITY Care philanthropic endeavors, the company with support from board members, raised over $1100 for the American Cancer Society.
“I was proud to see so much support for this great cause and enjoyed walking with fellow HMI team members,” said Ann Williams, President of Hammersmith. “Partnering with the American Cancer Society is a great fit with Hammersmith and our core values.”
Groups of people and companies formed teams to raise donations for the American Cancer Society prior to and during the event. Out of 154 teams, the Hammersmith Management Unity team placed in the top 25 (for total donations collected). There were a total of 2250 walkers, doubling the number of participants from last year.
Evelyn Saavedra, Director of Community Associations, partnered with team members from three (3) other HMI offices to organize the HMI Unity Team. The team passionately promoted event participation throughout the company. Evelyn said, “Supporting this cause means a lot to me and the other leaders from the satellite offices, and it was inspiring to see so many colleagues join us in the walk. Also, many HMI team members brought their families, and it was great to see family members bond with the HMI family. This walk enabled us to raise money to fight breast cancer. Donations are extremely important to cancer research, finding better treatments, and ultimately a cure. Fundraising helps save more than 400 lives a day that would have otherwise been lost to cancer”.
